Don't Be A Home Based Scam Victim
A work at home business is great way to earn additional income. However, fraudulent businesses abound in the market these days and if you are not careful, you might just get scammed too!
Don’t be fooled by a business promising you to get rich in a span of weeks or even days! Be careful about programs offering thousands of dollars without hardly doing anything at all or having to sell any product. There a lot of home based business scams and each one uses different strategies to lure people. Examples of these scams are envelope stuffing, multi-level marketing, home product assembly, re-shipping products, turnkey website scams, home typing or data entry, or medical transcription scams. All of these offer you big earnings without having to work so hard.
However, there are indeed legitimate home based businesses that offer real opportunity to earn money. All you need to know is accurate information to avoid falling prey to these ruthless scammers.
Consider these points to ponder when thinking about signing-up for a work at home business:
- Use the internet to research further about the business. Know about the company’s background, its history and its reputation. Find out how many people in your area is actually part of this company or program. Also, check out online forums and see what other people have to say about it
- Check from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) if the company is legitimate and is not involved in any dispute. Visit their website at http://www.bbbonline.org/ to find out if the particular program or business carries the BBB’s seal of approval.
- Be careful about home based programs requiring you to pay a sum of money in exchange for more information. Although, there are legitimate home based businesses that does require an initial payment, it can be hard to distinguish which programs are real and which are scams. If you are being asked for a payment, make sure that you will receive a set of products or a kit that will enable you to start with their proposed business.
- Watch out for businesses which force you to sign-up quickly before the offer disappears. Chances are, these are fraud. A genuine business will not force you to rush into anything simply because a true business is not in a hurry to go somewhere else. A genuine business has a good tracking record to back up its reputation.
- If a business asks you to attend a seminar at a private location, ignore it. A legitimate business should provide you with a precise list of all terms and conditions involved in the system. You don’t have to be invited somewhere else just to learn what the business is about.
- The business uses exaggerated promises or propaganda that just sounds too good to the ears. If all the marketing ad tells you is all the money you will earn simply by joining without much details explaining on how the business works, ignore it. It’s a fake.
The truth is there has been a lot of warnings issued on the different scams used by these swindlers but sadly there are still people who fall for the same things over and over again. The important to remember is that a legitimate business will not guarantee you to make thousands or millions of cash in an instant and most convenient way. When signing up for a business, examine things first, weigh them carefully. Most of all always set realistic goals.
